The European Biosmart project sees Propagroup’s R&D Department among its protagonists...

Thanks to the commitment of its internal R&D department, Propagroup, together with various other scientific, technical and business excellences making up the Biosmart Consortium, is one of the protagonists of a new European project for the development of compostable food packaging. The project aims to study food sector packaging in order to make it lighter, less waste-producing and easier to dispose of. In addition to these goals is that of making packaging more effective in preserving food, with better monitoring of the duration of food preservation.

Propagroup, having been in the active and smart plastic film industry for over 50 years, is participating in the project as a producer of Biosmart film and tray prototypes, with a dedicated production process, and supporting the consortium in formulating and designing the material to be used.

The Biosmart project is set to run for four years, from 2017 to 2021, and is supported and funded by the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 745762.

On the 15th and 16th of October, Propagroup had the pleasure of hosting all members of the consortium to discuss the progress of the project. Thank you all for participating and see you at the next appointment.
