PROPATECH VCI NOXY
Diffusers with anticorrosive action

Active protection in motion: mobile diffusers that enhance VCI action during transport and prolonged storage.

PROPATECH VCI NOXY are new generation mobile anticorrosive diffusers designed to enhance VCI protection. This innovative technology allows the VCI to reach even the most hidden points that are difficult to protect, creating a total saturation of the environment that provides unmatched anticorrosive protection. The main advantage of these diffusers is their ability to integrate and enhance the action of traditional PROPATECH VCI products, proving particularly effective for bulky packaging intended for long distances and critical climate conditions. They can be activated and deactivated multiple times, making them not only extremely effective but also economical in the long run.

PROPATECH VCI NOXY are available in two versions: Noxy Lillo and B50.

The PROPATECH VCI NOXY LILLO is a new generation mobile anticorrosive diffuser that uses transport movement to activate and enhance VCI protection and is ideal for large spaces. Thanks to the patented spring system by Propagroup, this anticorrosive integrator moves with every oscillation of the transport vehicle, offering rapid and constant diffusion of VCI protective molecules throughout the packaging. The PROPATECH VCI NOXY LILLO diffuser is easily applied inside the container and is activated a few hours before departure. Once activated, it will start diffusing protective VCI molecules until reaching environment saturation.

The NOXY B50 is a diffuser specifically designed to be housed in small spaces. Thanks to its structure and repositioning system, it easily adapts to any type of packaging and can protect your goods for a very long time.

Both PROPATECH VCI NOXY diffusers offer high-intensity and long-lasting protection, representing the perfect solution for companies that need maximum reliability in preserving metal products during intercontinental transport or prolonged storage.

Problems solved by this product

Why is it important to wear protective gloves when working metals?

It is very important to wear protective gloves as skin acidity can start oxidation of metal.

What are ferrous and non-ferrous metals?

Ferrous metals contain iron, for example steel, whilst non-ferrous metals do not contain iron, for example zinc, magnesium, and copper.

How long can VCI anticorrosive products be stored?

VCI anticorrosive products can be stored for up to a year and a half, but they must be kept sealed in the original package and not opened.

What happens to VCI after the packaging received is opened?

VCI is a volatile substance so, once the packaging is opened, it volatilize from metal in one or two hours and it will not leave resuduals.

How does VCI work?

VCI is a complex combination of substances which sublimate and form a thin invisible layer able to neutralise corrosive agents, such as water vapour, oxygen, salty air, sulfur-based gases, and polluting agents commonly present in the air.

How much VCI should be placed in the packaging to make sure that the product is protected?

The quantity of VCI to be used in order to effectively protect goods against corrosion depends on many factors, being the most relevant: shipping time, external conditions (e.g. by sea, by land), and type of product. We strongly recommend to contact us in order to determine the most efficient solution and design the most appropriate package.

Do diffusers protect metals from corrosion?

Anticorrosive diffusers, also when combined with common anticorrosive systems such as VCI paper and films, are an excellent solution for protecting metal items and machines from rust during transportation and storage.

The following are the diffusers that are available:

• Mobile Noxy diffuser with mini tablets is applied inside the packaging and is activated a few hours prior to departure. Its activation results in the release of protective vapors every time the transport vehicle moves.
• Propatablets are tablets of compressed powder that can be placed in the most hidden points.
• Pill Bags are bags of mini tablets used to increase the protection of packaging that is already protected with VCI papers.
• Impregnated sponges are ideal for protecting metals such as iron, brass, copper, steel, and bronze.

VCI can protect all metals?

There are different types of VCI depending on metal to protect.

Is VCI dangerous for the health of people working directly with anticorrosive products for packaging?

Anticorrosive VCI products used in the packaging are not dangerous for the health of people because VCI is a physiologically inactive substance. Any problem of eye or skin irritation have been found in people that directly worked with packagings treated with VCI. In any case, because VCI is a chimical substance, is suggested the use of gloves when in contact with the anticorrosive packaging. We also suggest to always ask for the safety data sheet to our customer care before using anticorrosive Propatech VCI products for your packagings.

Should a VCI be used in contact with a product or placed at a certain distance?

Some anticorrosive VCI products, like paper and certain films, work well in contact with the material to be protected, whereas VCI diffusers, for example, do work at a distance in order to saturate the inside of packaging with the VCI substance and protect the goods against corrosion attacks. VCI products are very often used together to protect metals both in contact and at a distance and to better preserve their quality over time.

Corrosion

The chemical or electrochemical reaction between a material, usually a metal, and its environment that produces a deterioration of the material and its properties.

Diffusion

Diffusion is the volatile distribution of VCI molecules into the packaging.

Nitrites

PROPATECH VCI products for the protection against corrosion are free from nitrites.

Nitrites are made of a nitrogen atom and two oxygen atoms negatively charged and it can be found in some anticorrosive VCI products on the market. Its presence has to be allowed and declared from the producer.

Oxidation

A corrosion reaction in which the corroded metal forms an oxide; usually applied to reaction with a gas containing elemental oxygen, such as air.

Rust

Rust is a general term for a series of iron oxides. Colloquially, the term is applied to red oxides, formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. Rust generates metal corrosion.

Sublimation

Transformation from a solid to a gaseous state of VCI molecules starting from the protective material (paper, film, diffusers, foams, etc...).

VCI

VCI is a Volatil Corrosion Inhibitor that can sublimate, from a solid to a gas state, and form a thin invisible layer able to neutralize corrosive agents such as: water vapour, oxygen, saline atmosphere, sulphurous gases and the most common industrial environmental pollutants present in the air.

Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor

The Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor is a chemical substance that inhibits electrochemical oxidation of metals in reaction with an oxidant such as oxygen.
